Smith is a very talented individual, being able to portray so many different characters. It is actually quite impressive because all the characters portrayed are so radically different from one another, but she is able to capture the various essences of each of them almost perfectly. What I find interesting is that she manages to only use herself to portray the characters for a one woman show rather than finding other actors or actresses to perform alongside with her. On television, this is much easier to portray since she can do quick and more thorough costume changes since there is no time limit needed for her to transition to other characters. She is able to take her time to record each of the scenes for each of the characters. On stage, this is much harder to manage since costume changes and transitions need to be quick and efficient so the audience doesn't get bored or impatient. I do think it is also easier to differentiate the characters easier on television since it would provide a clearer image. For example, the camera can capture minute details of the characters much more easily and thoroughly, so the audience will be able to realize that each of the characters ARE different after all. On the stage, it may be harder to distinguish since the audience may believe the same character is being interviewed again since it can be harder to see, especially those with poorer eyesight or those sitting further away from the stage.
